How homes are sold today -- what you need to know!
Nearly 90% of homes nationwide are sold through realtors using realtor-exclusive multiple listing services, such as The First Multiple Listing Service (FMLS) in Atlanta. They are the one-stop source for realtors to locate homes that meet their home buyer’s needs. Only realtors can list properties for sale on these services.
Approximately 5% of homes nationwide are sold “For Sale By Owner” (FSBO) to buyers not known by the sellers. Another 10% are sold to people known by the seller, such as friends and family. These figures are down significantly from previous years.
Nearly 90% of all homes for sale nationwide are listed on Realtor.com, making it the biggest real estate website now. FSBO ads are not allowed.
Almost 100% of home buyers today use internet realtor-exclusive websites, Realtor.com being the biggest, to begin their home search.
Over 100,000 homes are sold each week nationwide and most buyers now are being represented by a “Buyer’s Broker” who protects the interest of their client, the buyer, exclusively.
